Niagara Falls is a city in the American state of New York, on the right bank of the Niagara River. This is the basis for a study of the American side of the Niagara Falls.
Understand
The main attraction of Niagara Falls is Niagara Falls. The Niagara River connects the lakes of Eri and Ontario from the Great Lakes system, and it runs the US-Canada border. Accordingly, there are two cities of Niagara Falls — one in Canada, the other in the USA, and they are divided by two bridges with border crossing (most Russian-speaking travelers need a visa to both Canada and the USA, so they cannot cross the bridge). In the area of the waterfall, the river is divided into two sleeves, and then turns 90 degrees, so the Canadian side is better than the American side. Below the waterfall the river flows into the canyon with high banks.
Presumably the first European to see the Niagara Falls was the French missionary Louis Enpen in 1678. Until 1763, the whole area around the Great Lakes belonged to France (New France), but in 1763, after the Seven Years War, France ceded it to England. The left bank of Niagara remained in England and then crossed over to Canada, and the right bank became part of the United States since 1776. In 1812, the city of Niagara was founded (it still has an airport, for example), and in the second half of the 19th century, a heavy industry began to appear on the American bank of the river, receiving energy from a waterfall. In 1892, the town of Niagara Falls was established, which partially cut off the territory of Niagara, partly on empty grounds. In 1956, the Scholkopfa power station, which stood on the high bank of the river below the waterfall, was severely damaged by the collapse of the shore. It was not rebuilt by building a more powerful power station in the neighboring city, and Niagara Falls gradually started to develop tourism. Much of the industry disappeared in the 1970s and 1980s, and the city is in a rather difficult financial position. However, this does not concern tourists at all.

Precautions
In most places above the waterfall of the trail and pedestrian paths are separated from the water by a fence. Don't go over it and try not to come to the water - if you fall into the river, your chances of survival will be quite small.
